What I Loved in August & September

So, along with being perpetually behind on my Project 365 photos, I realized I am also behind on my What I Loved... series. Here are some of the things that have kept me sane during August and September.

  1. I *discovered* Coconut M&M's on a recent road trip to NYC. They are they perfect blend of milk chocolate and coconut. [The last M&M discovery--pretzel M&M's--wasn't as yummy as these delicious tropical morsels.] I'm still sad that I only bought one teeny-tiny bag.

  2. Fall: the leaves seemed to start changing just as autumn began, almost as if on cue. I love fall clothing, the cozy sweaters, puffy vests and boots! [Don't get me wrong, I'm still sad to put away my sandals, but there is something about the crispness of a clear fall day that I love...how's that for cheesy?] I'm excited to subject my boys to many impromptu photo shoots in the park before the snow falls!

  3. I've been a library fan ever since I've been tall enough to see over the book checkout counter. I currently have 20 items checked out from the Toronto Public Library! These days, Indio comes along on my library jaunts and picks out a few bedtime stories for himself. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy to see my own little bibliophile in the making!
[Reading Which Way. Indio currently loves Marthe Jocelyn's words paired with Tom Slaughter's colourful paper cutout illustrations.]

  4. Sahadi's is a great little specialty grocery store in Brooklyn that I used to frequent weekly for their yummy dark chocolate raisins, Swedish fish and naturally dried papaya [I don't even like fresh papaya!] along with their huge variety of cheeses, freshly made tomato and feta phyllo pie, hummus, salads...I could go on forever. Anyway, on our last visit to NYC I got to satisfy my craving and give Indy his first taste of the unsweetened, no sulphur, but totally delicious dried papaya. I wish I had bought more to bring back to Toronto!

  5. Astro BioBest MaxImmunité Peach Mango Lassi has become a staple in our house since Indio has decided he doesn't milk as much, and I don't make mango milkshakes on a whim for him like my dad does! They are a great portable snack, though maybe not the best choice for in the car. [Yes, I speak from experience!] They come in these adorably-small bottles: just enough for a treat without too much worry about a sugar overdose.

What are you loving these days?

I love crisp fall days too- although we are not there yet in my neck of the woods (I'm still in flip flops) but the lucky part is that our winter is like a fall crisp day so I can wear fall fashion for a few months-
I discovered M and M through your blog-although I haven't had the chance to try them yet-
Mango Lassi at home- sounds deliciously dangerous!

Personal M&Ms request from me please! Bounty is one of my favorite chocolate bars, so I am sure I would appreciate them as was meant to be.

@Ren--i love fall, but not so much winter, so i'm jealous of your weather. you probably don't have humidity either, right? that is my dream!

@phonelady--not sure i'll be able to mail the smoothies: they are perishable. i know danone and other brands also have probiotic versions of their yogurt drinks.

@faiza--holding them hostage with your sunflower seeds...come and get 'em!

No humidity but truth be told my hair looks better when there is some!

Coconut M&M's. One of the first things I will buy when I arrive in NYC in exactly 3 weeks from today.
Looking forward to checking out your blog. Any suggestions for must-see or must experience while in NY....staying in Manhattan? A favourite? Clean, flannel sheets on my bed...smell of wood burning on a cold fall day.....

No kid....travelling me with my dad. Have wanted to go since childhood when I intended on growing up and being a starving actress is NYC (how original!). My dad has said countless times, "ONe day I will take you there." Anyway, 40 is around the corner and my dad isn't getting any younger so we figured now is as good a time as ever. I would love to hear some of you favs (non-touristy) must sees/dos. Thanks so much! Maybe you can do a post about it for others travelling to NYC.......

i too am loving the delicious colors of my favorite season... it's MAGICAL in VA! esp for this tx girl who isn't used to so many trees.

I'm enjoying pretzel M&M's. I'll have to try the coconut ones someday!

@Ren--I'm jealous of your humidity-happy hair!

@Micaela--I didn't think I'd love the coco m&m's either, but I can't get enough of them! I don't love the pretzel ones, but that's b/c I've been spoiled with good, dark chocolate covered pretzels, so m&m's just don't cut it! I feel like the trees are changing quicker this year...some of our trees are already bare!

@KOS--Lucky you, I have a pack here just for you!
