From the mouths of babes

As I'm getting ready to tuck Indio into bed this evening . . .

Me: What song do you want me to sing you tonight?

Indy: Ooh na na

And so instead of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, tonight's lullaby was Rihanna's What's My Name.

Snapshot Sunday: week 39

I know you were all having doubts that you'd ever see another timely Project 365 post. Well, I thought I'd surprise you and get a jump start on the week with this Snapshot Sunday. Only 4 photos long, but now I'm caught up until next Sunday!

Hope you all had a fantastic weekend!

[day 273: Waiting for Papa to get his hair did.]

[day 274: Tabla player extraordinaire, Talvin Singh at The Great Hall in Toronto. I hate to say it, but with all the technical malfunctions, the opening act, Omnesia, was more entertaining.]

[day 275: Yes, I let my son eat crayons. We ran out of string cheese.]

[day 276: A bountiful day at the park--met new friends who shared their Lay's and Ruffles chips. Even strangers know how to win over my boy!]

Foto Friday: week 8

[day 50: Date night with E at my favourite Toronto sushi spot. We ended the evening with Shutter Island.]

[day 51: Testing out his new boots in the park and holding on to papa for moral support.]

[day 52: I heart potatoes!]

[day 53: E treated me to a delicious home-cooked meal of pepper pork and mushrooms over udon.]

[day 54: One last Buffalo-sauce-covered-fingers hurrah for N, who is due to deliver her baby boy any moment now. If the way they dote on Indio is any indication, N & H are going to be fantastic parents. I can't wait to meet Baby D!]

[day 55]

[day 56: Faiza and I enjoyed an amazing concert at Roy Thompson Hall. I never thought I'd find myself rocking out to a cello and an accordian, especially not at the symphony!]

Listening to...

One of my favourite foods is the chickpea. Humus, falafel, or just straight out of the can! Well, today I got a taste of a newest garbanzo on the market. My dear friend, Sarah, who took me under her wing when I first moved to Brooklyn, just sent me a link to her sister, Genevieve's band, The Chickpeas! [That's her on the album cover.] I love the name so I had to have a listen.

Genny's voice reminds me of the lead singer of the Cranberries, who I loved back in the day. The music is folksy, and seems to be a perfect soundtrack to a lazy Sunday. Have a listen to all the songs on Woe is Me here. You can even buy the whole album for $5.99 here.

[Sarah's very talented husband, Nico, designed the Chickpeas' website.]

I hope you'll check out Genevieve and the Chickpeas, and tell me what you think.
