Fat Blaster? For real?

Remember that *resolution* I made to get my butt to the gym 3 times a week this month? Well, I have to admit, it hasn't been as easy as I thought.

My pass is only good during off-peak hours, so 7am-5pm, and I thought I would take advantage of Indio's naptime to get to the community centre, but that's much easier said than done.

I will say that I have kept up with 3 workouts each week for the past 2 weeks, though lately I've been relying on a set of DVDs that E has lying around called "Barry's Bootcamp". Yes, these are high on the cheese factor, but they are also high on the potency of the workouts. I've only been doing the 21-minute upper or lower body *Fat Blaster* workouts and I'm already feeling a difference.

I've said it before, I don't like exercise, and hardly have the motivation to do it alone at home, but if I can get in a decent workout in under half an hour, including stretching, I'm game. This week I doubt I'll be able to get to the gym at all, so I'm going to try to add the 12-min *Mission Specialist* ab workout to the end of my regular 21-min workout.

Any tips on how to stay motivated? And what about that whole thing called healthy eating? How do you stay on track? That's my next hurdle.

Hahahaha I loved this post! I love how you're honest about not liking to exercise, cause sometimes when I read about people who love it I think there's something wrong with me. I really like hiking and dance but that's the extent of it. Running is my own personal hell. And if I had it my way, I'd never set foot into another gym.

What helps me is trying new classes. I've been to a few new ones this year (Dailey Method which kicks my ass, a new yoga class, and a modern dance class). The problem is that most of them are really expensive.

As for DVDs, Jillian Michaels is SUPER annoying but the 30 Day Shred is a pretty amazing workout, and it's really short too (under 30 mins I think). I feel sore the next day after doing it!

xoxoxoxox I MISS YOU.

i agree with claire about the jillian michaels 30 day shred. it's $10 at indigo and it's really hard but it works. i only did it for two days because i love going to the y too much. i focus on the steam room at the end of my workout to keep me motivated. i also find that the OCD in me needs to track everything. i like tracking what i eat and tracking my inches and weight loss. seeing those results keeps me going too. any time you wanna come to the y with me you just say the word!

I only let myself shower at the gym during the week- this makes for some smelly days when I slack off- and I take all my fun products- shampoo, face wash etc to my locker at the gym so that if I do shower at home I'm stuck with a two in one or kids shampoo.
Basically I'm mean to myself- it works.

@claire, my gym doesn't have classes and my gym pass is only good til 5pm [off-peak hrs], but i used to LOVE spin classes! i might just have to try the shred video though b/c i've been hearing a lot of rave reviews about it.

@faiza, i find the OCD in me makes me a bit crazy, which is why i'm trying not to track everything, but just to make sure i'm getting in my exercise and eating well MOST of the time. ;) mini eggs are protein, right?

@ren, wow, that's hardcore! whatever works, right? i'm definitely filing this one in the back of my brain for the future...
